The ruins of St Peter's Seminary, near Cardross in Scotland. This unique structure was built in the 1960s in a Modernist Brutalist style. The facility opened its doors in 1966 to train priests. The school ran into immediate operational problems. The rate of Catholic priests entering the priesthood was already declining. On top of that, the concrete structure suffered from poor sound insulation, heating failures, and severe roof leaks. The seminary closed in 1980. A drug rehabilitation centre subsequently occupied the site, closing after only 4 years. A Trust now owns the site, and they are making plans to re-develop the site. #Scotland #Brutalist #Architecture #History #Urbex
